Thomas Nelson Wenrich

Thomas Nelson Wenrich Thomas was born January 12, 1944 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He went to be with the Lord on January 2, 2017. He passed peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his family at his home in Joplin, Missouri. He was 10 days away from his 73rd birthday. Thomas was the son of the late Robert Nelson Wenrich and Clara Lucia Byers Wenrich. His six sisters, Audrey Wenrich, Janie Wenrich, Peggy Weaver, Joyce Klopp, Brenda Bangert, and April Migis preceded him in death. His two brothers, Daniel and Jerry Wenrich are still living. Thomas served honorably for 12 years in the United States Marine Corps from 1961 to 1973 during the Vietnam conflict. Retired from Arrow Box Company, a dedicated employee, after 30 years of loyal service. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Joplin, Missouri for 15 years. God brought the love of his life, Flossie Kay Barnard, to him in the year of 1971 in Hawthorne, California while he was stationed at Camp Pendleton. They met, went bowling with friends, and knew they were meant to be together forever by the end of the night. They have enjoyed a happy 44 years of marriage together. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Dana Julia Attwood and husband Mike of Carl Junction; and Nickie Kay Russell and husband Brad of Springfield. As well as three grandkids, Adron Thomas Attwood, Bella Lucya Russell, and Porter Graham Russell. All who knew Thomas will miss his quick wit, laughter, kindness, generosity, and the special kind of love only he could give. He was and will always be greatly loved. I felt the answer in my heart although He spoke no word… I asked that He’d be near you at the start of each new day to grant you health and blessings and friends to share your way… I asked for happiness for you in all things great and small but it was for His loving care, I prayed for most of all. -a poem that brought comfort to Thomas A visitation and memorial service for Thomas will be held on Tuesday, January 10th at the new First Baptist Church in Joplin, Missouri.
