Fred L Francis Sr, 79 of Pittsburg passed away on January 10, 2022 at Via Christi of Covid Complications. He was born September 14, 1942 in Logan, West Virginia to Louis Albert & Martha Ellen Woody.. He attended local schools and graduated from Logan High School where he excelled in sports. He played football, baseball & basketball and was known as a Triple Threat. He won the Triple Threat award his junior and senior year. After his senior year, he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates. During training season, he was hit by an automobile and suffered a tragic leg injury that ended his baseball career. He was an avid sports fan, particularly of KU Basketball, KC Royals and the Oakland Raiders (while they were still in Oakland). In 1966, he married Mary Ann McDaniel. They later divorced. He married Brenda Jo Wilson September 14, 1976. She preceded him in death in March of 2019. He was a welder by trade and a truck driver the last 30 years of his career. He is survived by son; Fred Francis Jr (Michele), daughter; Lisa Kloster (Keith), step-daughter; Starla Wilson, daughter; Kelly Rakestraw (Nathan), brothers; Sterling (Jondo) Francis, Cleadis Linville, sisters; Susan Linville, Ruby O’Brien & Martha Jane Linville and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers; Nathan Francis & Glen Linville. Services will be Friday, January 14, 6 PM at Countryside Christian Church (1901 E. 4th ST) in Pittsburg with Dan Muter officiating.
