Born on May 6, 1951, in the scenic city of Eugene, Oregon, Mary's journey through life was a testament to her refined character and unwavering spirit. Mary was a shining star of the Webb City High School Class of 1969, where she cultivated her intellect and love for learning. Following her graduation, she embarked on a series of adventures, exploring various places that captured her heart. Among these was the majestic Yellowstone National Park, a sanctuary of natural beauty, which she held dear to her heart and spoke of with great affection and reverence. In addition to her love for nature, Mary found solace and inspiration in the art of writing poetry and faithfully journaling daily, capturing the essence of her experiences and emotions. Having traversed different landscapes, Mary decided to return to the Joplin area, drawing closer to her beloved family. An ardent lover of feline companions, she sought a permanent abode where she could provide a nurturing haven for her cherished feline friends, whose company brought her immense joy and comfort. Mary's passing leaves a void in the lives of those who held her dear. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Joyce and the Reverend Wayne Porter, whose spirits now embrace her in eternity. Left to cherish her memory are her adoring sisters, Janice Altland (Steve) and Tammy Graves (Ross), as well as her devoted brother, Jon Porter (Marcy). Mary's legacy extends to her aunts, uncle, nieces, nephews, and a host of loving cousins, all of whom were touched by her grace and kindness. In honor of Mary's extraordinary journey through life, a celebration of her remarkable existence will be held this summer, exclusively for family members. It will serve as a moment to reflect upon her legacy, share cherished memories, and find solace in the enduring bonds of family. Mary Elizabeth Duff's elegant presence and passion for life will forever remain etched in our hearts. Her love for nature, the written word, and her beloved feline companions will be treasured for generations to come.
