Kenneth Ray Callarman

Kenneth Ray “Kenny” Callarman, 70, of Chanute, Kansas, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026. Kenny was born to Lawrence and Mary Summers Callarman. He married Sheri Davidson in April of 1979, and although their marriage later ended in divorce, together they shared three daughters. He is survived by his daughters, Chrissy Naccarato (Shawn) of Pittsburg, Ks, Kinnie Mapes (Gary) of Topeka, Kansas and Carla Callarman (Andy Warren) of Prairie Village, Kansas. He was a grandfather to seven grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Roy Callarman (Jo) of Chanute, his sisters, Anita Barnett of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Norma Paulson (Jerry) of Ainsworth, Nebraska, Lila Wood of Chanute, and Kelly Alumbaugh ( Howard) of Moran, Ks; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Mary Callarman; his brothers, Orien, Frank, Dale and Dennis Callarman; and his sisters Laura Jean and Diana Hess. Kenny spent many years as a proud iron worker. Beginning his career in Houston, Texas, his work took him all across the United States before he eventually returned home to Chanute in 2021. He enjoyed telling stories from his travels and never met a stranger for long. Anyone who know Kenny knew he loved to laugh, tease, and keep everyone on their toes. He was ornery in the very best way and always had a colorful saying ready for any occasion. If he wasn’t “styling’ and profilin’”, he was “limpin’ and pimpin’”. On his best days, he was “fine as frog hair cut four ways,” and in recent months he’d jokingly tell you he was “going down like a bad tire.” Those phrases- and the grin that usually came with them- will forever bring smiles to those who loved him. Kenny will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his sense of humor, and his unforgettable personality. Though he has left this world, the stories, laughter, and memories he gave his family and friends will live on for generations. A celebration of Kenny’s life will be held at a later date in Buffalo, Kansas.
